“I’ve been an avid reader since childhood. I’ve tried book clubs in the past but never liked the concept of reading and discussing the same book. I’ve also never liked how seriously people take it. Reading is for pleasure. As a disabled, largely housebound person I love the escapism of reading. I can get totally immersed in another world. I also like to laugh!

"The Cotswold Book Nook is my fourth time joining a book club. The first three attempts failed before the first meeting because the concept of everyone reading a set book didn't feel like reading for pleasure. However, Jane has come up with something different for The Cotswold Book Nook, namely free-choice reading based on a broad theme. In this book club, I'm able to choose to read something I really enjoy. Not only do I like enthusing about 'my' book at our meetings, I always look forward to hearing how everyone else has interpreted the theme and I come away with recommendations for titles I wouldn't come across without the book club. Jane's light touch on proceedings enables us all to have a chance to speak about our reading and still have time for friendly general chat together. We take it in turns to choose the theme and I love hearing what others have come up with. I also like the Coffee House 43 venue where we have a meeting room with access to the coffeeshop below."  Rachel.
